Beethoven - in Maine

Posted January 2019

Introducing Beethoven!  He may not be able to conduct music but he certainly plays heart strings very well. Beethoven is a local surrender as his previous owner's health meant she could no longer care for him. He is 7 years old and weighs 28 lbs.

This little gentleman will get himself attached to one person in particular; that person will need to be a strong leader who isn't afraid to correct him. He gets along best with older, respectful kids. From what we can see he takes corrections very well and learns from them. He does have some weakness with his hind legs but likely this may be related to atrophy of the muscles due to limited exercise as his previous owner was not able to do so. He comes down the stairs nicely but sometimes has to be carried up the stairs. He does love to go for walks and some days he can walk longer than others. He currently lives with three small dogs and gets along well with them, again correction is needed if he doesn't want to share his bed, for instance. He does like to play or carry around his toys but there hasn't been competition for his toys in his foster home. He makes his family laugh when he has a burst of energy and runs throughout the house bringing all his toys. Although to our knowledge he has not previously lived with cats, he has been introduced to some since coming into foster care and shows no interest. If you are looking for the addition of a loyal, adult dude to your family you may want to consider this cutie!

If you have interest in meeting Beethoven or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
