Chance - in Maine!
Posted November 2020
Welcome to Maine, Chance! Perhaps his name should be Tigger because this boy is as bouncy as they come! Chance is a yellow lab mix who might be perfect for a runner, or a hiker that could put a backpack on him and go go go! With some training he could be an energetic sporting dog. He is 18 months old and approx.. 60 lbs.
Chance was turned into our southern partner shelter because his family did not want him anymore. It doesn’t appear they worked much with him because he is learning all the time – basic commands, manners etc. He loves to play and loves other dogs but can be too much for some; even when they tell him they want to stop he wants to keep playing so a strong leader will have to help Chance with boundaries. He still has some puppyish behaviors like playing with his mouth and jumping up to say hi so we think older kids or an adult-only home will work best. His rescuers thought he would be too much for cats or other small animals.
Chance does well in his crate and rides well in the car. He is treat motivated and he tried to jump all the way up on the vet’s exam table himself, so maybe an agility career is in his future!
If you have interest in meeting bouncy Chance, please fill out the adoption application.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once appoved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
