Cooper - in Maine

Newest update: July 2016

Meet Cooper!

Cooper has been with his foster family for several months.  In that time he has grown so much and has made remarkable progress.  When he first came to Maine he was not house or crate trained, had high anxiety and was frightened by just about everyone and everything.  Now he is a playful, lovable cuddlebug and responds well to simple commands.  He plays great with his foster sister and human siblings to include a 4-year old boy.  He is a great hiking companion, running partner, and travels well in the car.  He is quick with a kiss and once bonded is a loyal companion.  Cooper has a sweet happy-go-lucky nature when he is feeling secure.  His confidence has grown substantially in a short amount of time and will only improve with the right guidance and environment.  His only drawbacks are his energetic interest in cats and chickens.  But he is responding to training  and   Cooper has such an endearing personality and has so much potential!

Cooper is  a 9 month old boxer mix pup and is not only gorgeous but so, so sweet.  His ideal home is with people who are dog savvy and can work with him while being patient, good leaders.  He needs to be in a home with another dog to feel safe and adventurous.

When he first meets you he might be loud and nervous but if you can ignore him he will do much better and will be sniffing and licking your hand before you know it.

He loves routine, and will protest in his crate but just for a short time and then settles down. He does better in an airline style crate where he can relax.

Cooper is great with other dogs; he loves his furry foster sister who is an adult calm dog,  and loves riding in the car. He is a darling sweet boy.

Cooper is such a love! He is a fast learner and was a star in puppy class. He can sit, wait for his dinner, lay down, and “walk” (heel). He plays fetch with a ball or Frisbee, and he is getting out and about more to help him feel more confident in new situations.

Once Cooper knows and loves you, he will sleep in your lap and loves belly rubs.

Mom is a mixed breed girl, possibly a shepherd mix, who is about 60 lbs.   They were born under a church as mom was a stray

If you have interest in Cooper or another of our sweeties, please fill out the adoption application

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed. They all are cared for in our network of wonderful foster homes. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential adopter will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
