Duke - in Maine!
Newest update: August 2016
August update: Duke is here and is doing fantastic. He loves other dogs, is great with kids and is ready to party. He has already been to an adoption event with us and charmed everybody! Duke is a great medium size and he is looking forward to finding his forever family.
Duke is a young boy (approx. 15 months old as of mid-August) who was found wandering with his buddy (or brother?) Diesel when they were just babies. The finder gave them away to a friend, and then 6 months later they were found by a farmer wandering around on his land. So these two nomads were saved by our southern partner rescuers, and they are just as happy and friendly as can be. Diesel came north and was adopted, Duke had to wait because he was heartworm positive but now he is healthy and ready to roll.
Duke is so sweet, is great with other dogs and all the people he meets. He does better in the presence of other dogs so we would like him to go to a home with another dog already there. He is housetrained, crate trained and weighs about 45 lbs. Duke appears to be a Lab/Catahoula possibly? Neither parent is known so it’s impossible to know for sure.
Duke recently met a kitten and did fine but we don't know how he will do with cats that run. He is housebroken and crate trained but much prefers to sleep in the bed at night with his humans ; 0 )
If interested in Duke or any of our sweeties, please fill out the adoption application.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster placement where they are feeling safe and loved.
