Emily - in Maine!

Posted July 2020

How cute are these two? Eli and Emily are around a year old and just the sweetest.   We think they are lab mixes: Eli has catahoula coloring but Emily looks like a small black lab. Both are great with other dogs and very sweet.  Prior to coming to us, we didn't have much information about children or cats because they were rescued as strays but since arriving into a foster home that has both, we have learned that they do well! Emily is definitely the more timid of the two and needed a little time to warm up.  They are crate trained and have never had an accident in their crate. Emily weighs approx. 45lbs.

Considering what they’ve been through, they are some pretty awesome pups. We think they are siblings because they were found together in a rural county by our southern rescue partners who were there to trap a different dog!

When the dogs arrived to Maine, Emily gravitated to the other dogs right away and was not as keen on the humans. Once she had a couple of days in her foster home she came out of her shell more but we think that she would do best going into an environment where there is at least one doggy sibling already. She did well with the children in the foster home (all school age and above) but we thought she may get nervous with very young, fast-moving children. When introduced to cats she was curious but a little afraid. When a cat ran, Emily and Eli gave chase but they lost interest as soon as the cat disappeared downstairs.

If you have interest in meeting Emily or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
