Jack - in Maine

Most recent update -  August 2018

Jack is such a sweetheart!  He is a handsome boy who is very sweet once he gets to know you. He is nervous around children and may do best in a home with dog-savy teens or just adults. He loves to play with toys and run around outside.  He would do well in a home with a confident doggy sibling. Jack loves to have his belly rubbed, and once he knows you, he will roll over and position himself for belly rubs .  Once he knows you, Jack loves sitting next to his people on the couch.  Jack walks well on a leash, is treat motivated, and responds to basic commands.  His default position when he is bored is to lay down - on a walk when the humans stop for a minute, he'll lay down and relax until its time to continue.

Jack is one of the J pups who came to us several months ago. His original name was Justin and he was returned to our rescue because he was too shy; there was not another dog in the home there so we feel this is a requirement for him. Jack is approx. 14 months old (as of mid August) and he weighs about 55 lbs. His mom is a gorgeous boxer mix named Jodie and she weighs about 60 lbs. She was adopted and is doing well but we are still working with a few of her pups to overcome their shyness and  find families of their own.

The J pups and their mom were found by a mailman out in a rural area of Arkansas. They were all in rough shape, living in the heat with very little shelter or shade.  Our partner rescuers were able to nurse them back to health but they missed out on that important socialization with humans because they were rescued as older pups.

If you have interest in meeting Jack or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
