Jacob - in Maine!

Posted March 2021

We have learned more about Jacob now that he is here with us to help you know if he might be the right match for you.

He is an active and gorgeous dog who is learning to be a dog now that he is safe and healthy. This means he has some puppy-ish behaviors that are not as cute when you have adult teeth. He is mouthy in his play like most younger pups, and he will pounce not only on toys but wiggling feet or moving kids, etc. A home without little kids is a must for Jacob right now.

Jacob  likes other dogs and they help him use up some of his energy but his play is rough and he is still learning to take cues from the other dogs appropriately. A tolerant but active playmate could be good for him but he could also be an "only" if a family is committed to exercise and stimulating his mind and body. We think he is part shepherd so it would make sense that he needs to use his smart brain.

This handsome dude has had a bit of a journey but since being rescued he has shown so much love and appreciation and he can be snuggly and lovey. When rescued he had sarcoptic mange so was looking and feeling pretty rough but now is healed and ready to roll. Right now he is getting medicated baths weekly to help his skin heal and he looks a million times better.  Jacob is 10-12 months old and weighs 56 lbs. He is in foster with 5 wonderful humans including 3 young girls who adore this boy after knowing him such a short time. He is a chewer so will need a steady supply of toys and bones to satisfy that need. As you can see, he is a lover of attention and relaxing with his humans

If you have interest in meeting Jacob or any of our sweeties, please fill out the adoption application

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
