If interested in Kari or any of our sweeties, please fill out the application.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed. They are cared for in our wonderful network of foster homes throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved by the rescue, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster environment where they are feeling safe and loved.

Kari - in Maine!

Latest update: June 2017

Kari is a 3-4 year old Hound mix. She has a beautiful snow white coat that is beautifully marked with black patches and speckles. Kari is a gentle, good-natured dog who is a great walking companion.

Kari is back in rescue with us because she was having some troubles with reactive behavior so she is with one of our wonderful trainers who reports that  Kari can act tough at first, but she's actually kind of a marshmallow as long as she has good leadership. She is playful, friendly with people and was fine when meeting goats and chickens. She feels Kari could adapt to a lot of situations but wouldn’t place her with a new dog owner or small children.  Once she knows she can’t get her way, she moves on and is wiggly and playful. She can be with other dogs if the other dog is confident and would calmly put her in her place if she was being bossy.

Kari loves playing and walking. She is a medium energy dog, and she rests quietly in her crate even when other dogs are barking. We would provide continued training to a new owner with Kari; it would be a required follow-up so she can be the best citizen she can be!

She has done well with older children she has met and wanted to play when she met cats. When one of them swatted her she backed right off.

Kari was rescued by our southern partner shelter after she was found stray and never claimed. That's a pretty typical scenario in the south, but someone is missing out on a great dog!

Kari needs good leadership and a good amount of exercise to keep her happy and healthy. She is a wonderfully sweet girl!
