Libby - in Maine!

Latest update: June 2016

Libby is 9 months old as of early June  - she is a petite little thing at about 20 lbs. We really don’t know their breed mix – two of them look like dachshund mixes and two are more labby – looking but they all are small so definitely they are mixed with a small breed in there somewhere! Libby is living with multiple dogs, cats, and other animals and she is doing wonderfully.

Libby is such a nice girl but knows how adorable and charming she is. She is a typical small dog in some ways  - being possessive of certain people or her owner’s lap. She is not a dog for the first-time owner and not for small children. Libby will chase the cats but she backs off when told - sometimes she whines at them and thinks she's going to hold them hostage if they're up on a chair, but the cats don't take her seriously,  and if you tell her "no", she walks away. I think she'd be okay as an only dog, but she really does love to play with other dogs. If she is an only, the owners will need to understand that they need to keep her in line to prevent her from becoming possessive of people and things. She's really quite submissive and is easily corrected, but she's a smart one and will figure out how to get control if the owner won't keep it. She's quite picky about people and needs someone with a calm energy. She knows a high-strung person the minute they enter her space. The house training is going well. She's great in a crate and never fusses when left alone.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they all are cared for in our wonderful foster network. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
