If you have interest in Matlock or any of our sweeties, please fill out the adoption application.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network. It is our expectation that, once approved through the rescue, a potential family will meet the dog in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Matlock - in New England

Matlock is a great dog who could use a quiet home with someone who is willing to show some patience and understanding, especially at first. Matlock can be  protective of his people,  toys and  food. We will provide some training support to anyone who agrees to foster or adopt little Matlock.

Some great things about him are that he is very good with other easy-going dogs; he goes to doggy day care and does great.     The caregivers of Matlock  think an older adult or couple with an easy going dog would be ideal. He does well with cats but will chase them if they run. When they stop running he leaves them alone.

As far as kids, Matlock will protect them from each other but is fine with them individually.. They can’t, however, reach into his food or pick up his toys. We understand that he may have been teased by children in the past, so it takes him time to trust.  Once a person establishes that they are the leader by dishing out the food, toys and affection then Matlock respects that leadership.

Matlock is a cuddle bug and loves up be held and on someone's lap at all times. He likes to sleep in the bed under the covers with his people. He is very much a pack dog and needs to be involved in everything. He is great in the car but will bark and protect it from anyone on the outside. He is a good boy at the vet and has never had any problems visiting them. He loves to go on long walks and hiking. He is full of energy and needs to be walked or run daily. He is very good on leash and will stick right by you.

Matlock will be an awesome companion and friend in a quieter home than he is in now .
