Mike - in Maine!
Latest update: June 2016
Mike is a big boy at 82 lbs. He is a five year old Lab mix (maybe with hound dog?) who was found stray and never claimed. He is such a sweet boy and a great walking companion. He loves to play and is such a great boy.
Best of all, he was given a SAFER test (a common temperament test with dogs) and he passed all areas with flying colors. His coat was a mess, so he has been trimmed and it is growing back nice and healthy.
His Maine foster family tells us
Mike is doing great! What a happy go lucky goober! He is living with 3 other dogs and cats but the cat thing is not going so well – he is too interested in chasing them if they run.
Mike thinks he is an 82 lb lap dog and has decided sleeping on the floor is just not his preferred lifestyle! We keep putting him back on the floor but beware if you get up in the night…. he'll steal your spot almost before you've left it.
Mike loves going for rides....he sits in the back and doesn't fuss at all. Mike loves going for walks too. We walked around short sands beach and he had a great time. His real love is people – he loves meeting everyone! He does walk better with an easy walk harness - otherwise he is a bit difficult to control, just because he is a big goofy boy.
Everyone who meets him thinks he is english lab/hound mix. The howling is certainly hound! Mike doesn’t like to be left alone – he will howl for about 20 mins after you leave, even with other dogs in the home, so Mike will definitely not be an apartment dwelling dog.
Mike is not super food or toy motivated - all he really wants is to be with people. He chases the chickens in his foster home but does not harm them (but he is supervised, so his prey drive may just be too much for cats and chickens)
Mike is so sweet and a total love!
If you are interested in Mike or any of our dogs, please fill out the adoption application.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed. They are cared for in our wonderful network of foster homes. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
Thank you for considering rescue!
