Minky is a ton of personality in a 7 pound body. She will be a great companion (shadow actually) to the person whom she chooses to be her leader. She gets along with her two foster brothers (15 to 18 pound Pomeranians), as a matter of fact she sleeps with the whole clan, humans and dogs. She is a whole body wiggle when she sees a cat, just LOVES them even though they are bigger then she is. She loves riding in vehicles and going on walks too.
It would not be recommended that she enter a home with toddlers or young children. Respectable teens would be okay. She is a barker and will go after people to "protect" her pack and we stay ahead of this behavior with a water spray bottle.
She is a totally lovable gal and will be 100% devoted to a family who can be 100% devoted to her. Are you the right one for her?
This adorable little girl is a 10 year old Chihuahua who needs to be rehomed. Minky is great with cats & children, is 100% housetrained, loves her little crate, but does not have to be in it because she doesn't bother anything. She is just an absolute sweetheart. Her favorite thing is quite simply being adored & she would make a fabulous companion. She is totally fine being left home alone and when you return she will sit up and dance with her front feet in the air. Minky loves to snuggle - on your lap, on your chest & under the blankets in bed at night, she also loves to steal kisses!
That’s the good news! Next is the challenge!
We are looking for a very specific, experienced home that will be able & willing to handle her behavioral needs.
Minky is probably one of the sweetest, most loving & loyal dogs you could ever come across. However, like a large majority of Chihuahuas, these dogs are small packages with larger than life personality & attitude.
Minky grew up with dogs but when she was 9 her family acquired a very large breed puppy and the pack dynamic shifted and Minky was at major risk of being harmed or worse. Since being surrendered to us she has been in two placements where she showed some posessive behavior over her human leader. This is primarily with other dogs - she is not much into sharing!
One of our trainers has evaluated Minky & she will need behavior modification work with exercise, diet and training in place from day one. Punishment should never be used as it will only make things worse. As Minky has practiced this behavior for a long time she will need someone dedicated to being a good leader. Our trainer has offered to work with Minky and her new family from day one to support her next transition.
