This gorgeous grown-up girl is Karma! She is a petite mixed breed 4 yr old girl at 45 lbs. We see hound in there, maybe pointer too,  but her mystery mix is fascinating and beautiful! She loves to go for hikes, swimming and absolutely anything to do with the outdoors. She also enjoys snuggling the day away and people are her favorite thing. She has a big heart and lots of love to give, and is trained all the way through beginner and advanced classes. She greets strangers with a wagging tail and is so happy running around playing. Our volunteers recently met her and, as you can see, she had no problem warming up to them! She is very treat motivated and will ride in the car though it’s not her favorite thing to do.

 

Now the hard part: Karma has to be the only pet in your home. She has too much prey drive to be with small animals, and she has not been able to successfully live with canine siblings. Her family is devastated to have to give Karma up but they can not keep risking everyone’s safety.

 

Karma gets nervous with very young children but older, respectful kids would love to help tire her out. A fenced yard would be ideal for Karma so that she is contained and other pets can’t stray into her yard. She can walk down the street and pass dogs successfully, just hasn’t been able to cohabitate in a home environment.

 

If you are OK with a dog who is social with humans but not other animals, we would love for you to apply for Karma. She is such a sweetheart!

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine.. We will talk with you more about the logistics of meeting Karma in southern Maine.
