Maggie - In Maine
Newest update: March 2019
This sweet girl just can not cut a break. She is back in rescue due to some medical needs on the part of the former owner; Maggie is just too active for it to work successfully. She is now two years old and is a beautiful and fun cattle dog.
Maggie was formerly known as Pippa when she came to us as a young girl. She is a teeny thing, about 25-30 lbs. Maggie likes most other dogs and was anxious in a home as an "only". She is a hard player so a canine buddy should be active like she is, and Maggie would likely love to do some canine sports.
Maggie has herding tendencies, as that is what cattle dogs are bred for, so a new family will have to make sure to give her exercise for her smart brain as well as her body. Cattle dogs are by no means couch potatoes and a potential adopter should read up on herding dogs and doggy sports. She loves her people but can take a little bit to bond, especially with men. Maggie would probably be safest without cats due to that herding tendency.
Maggie needs clear rules , good and patient human leadership, and canine companionship.
