Ruby - in Maine!

Newest update: Feb. 2016

Feb 2016: Ruby is in foster with us now and we can't even recognize the scared girl we first met. She is so darling! She loves playing in the snow with the foster mom's grandkids. She is eating well and loving meeting new people. She is a sweet sweet girl! She has met children and has no problem, she has enjoyed playing with her foster mom's kids in the snow and keeping everyone entertained. She plays with other dogs well and is just a darling, energetic lady! She is learning to walk on leash with the use of the gentle leader and is learning how to have good manners on a walk. Such a sweetie!

Ruby is just the sweetest and cutest girl! She is 49 lbs and the vet estimates she is about one year old. She was found as a stray in central Maine and is in a kennel there waiting to find a foster family so she can get spayed and recover in a home.   She likes people very much and has a beautiful little face!

One of our volunteers recently took her to the vet for a checkup and vaccines and Ruby was nervous in the car, and needed encouragement and help to get in. Once out of the car though, she was full of energy and so friendly with everyone she met there. She met a cat at the office with a lot of curiousity but no aggression. She started baying in the office so that tells us she is part hound of some kind!

Will you help us find Ruby a forever family? She is a local dog who needs us. We don't know a lot about Ruby and other dogs or children yet but as she settles in we'll get more info about her.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
