These two dogs have come such a long way from the shy dogs who came to our southern partner shelter. We don’t believe they were mistreated, but were left on their own without much human interaction. It has been a joy to see them learn to walk on a leash, respond to the daily love and care they receive, have fun with toys and savor the joy of treats. Most of all, it has meant so much to see them trust people and reciprocate the love we have for them. They were friendly with the cats they met.

It would be a dream come true for these sisters to stay together for life

To apply to adopt these dogs, please check out our application.

Please note: We do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!

Sammi and Shyla are in Cumberland County Maine in foster care waiting to be discovered by their forever family!

Sammi and Shyla

These beautiful sisters are a tightly bonded pair; their Maine foster parents think it's important that they get adopted together.

Shyla and Sammi are Carolina Dog mixes who are two years old. They are gentle, sweet and friendly dogs who enjoy long walks. Shyla and Sammi have so much fun playing together in the shelter yard with our southern rescue partners, where they are learning to play fetch. Both enjoy attention and affection and love to be petted. Their devotion to one another is touching to see. These precious sisters are eager to please and should be easy to train. They will be such fun family companions!
