Tess has a fear of zapping equipment, such as an electric fence, bug zapper etc. If she is approached at night unexpectedly she might growl if you approach her in bed.
Tess’ ideal home is a single person or a couple that has a calm and stable lifestyle who understands that invading her space quickly or unexpectedly could scare her, someone who will take her for car rides, and who wants a peaceful, soulful yet playful middle-aged dog.
Two of our volunteers went to meet Tess (male and female) and she was absolutely lovely. She pulled on leash a bit and will need a little work on that skill. She was very gentle taking treats and didn’t show any nervousness or adverse behaviors. She was calm and loving, and eager to meet and interact with them.
Sweet Tess is a bassett hound/lab mix who is 6-7 years old. She was rescued last year but is having a hard time with the teenage boy in her home. She has shown herself to be wonderful with adults and children, other dogs and cats.
Tess will “alarm bark” with new guests but will settle when asked to. She is a low to medium energy dog who is relaxed and happy to just bask in the sun or hang out on the couch.
It appears that Tess’ early life may have included a heavy-handed person and she really benefits from TLC. She is about 52 lbs and enjoys playing a game of chase with her toys. She also loves walks and rides in the car. In social situations she enjoys receiving love from people. She is described as undemanding and adorable!
