Cody - in Maine!

Posted: September 2023

Cody is a sweet 15 lb, 2 year old Shih Tzu who has had a rough start to life living on the streets of Mississippi. Thanks to some wonderful southern rescue volunteers they were able to get him to safety and he is now with a  foster family in Maine, looking forward and not back!

Cody was reported as roaming the streets in a very busy, unsafe area of town. His rescuers were out checking the area and happened to locate him with his "owner" and after a brief conversation he was willing gave Cody up for $50!!

We are still getting to know this little dude (and getting him scheduled for a good grooming!)  but we know he needs an  adopter who will not allow him to be the boss. Typical of this breed, he can try to be dominant in personality and although he looks as cute as a button he still needs to know his people are the leaders, not him!

Cody does well with most dogs his size but with what we know so far will not do well living with dogs bigger than him or with cats. We would not recommend him for families with younger children.

If you have interest in meeting Cody or any of our sweeties, please fill out the adoption application.

*Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that, once approved,a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
