Grizzle - in Maine!
Foster or forever home needed
Posted July 2026
Grizzle was adopted 5 years ago but finds herself in need of a second chance at FUR-ever love. She would love a home that appreciates her sweetness and also is willing to work with her headstrong nature and smart brain. Grizzle is 5 1/2 years old and 58 lbs. She is listed as a pointer mix.
Grizzle has not been a successful off-leash candidate so will need a leash or long line at all times if she’s not in a fenced yard. She is house-trainedand knows some basic commands but is too smart for her own britches. She figured out how to push open doors to get into areas of the house she is not allowed. She is very motivated by human food and can get on almost any service, so she may need to be crated during cooking and eating unless she can be kept out of the kitchen.
She has a dominant personality so she needs a good leader and maybe a great trainer! She has had some training and is only motivated by food so making behavior changes has been slow if food is not involved.
A new baby entered the home a couple years ago and she is not super careful around him and will bowl him over accidentally. They get along fine but the family is having to manage both dogs and a little human.
Grizzle lives with another dog and they do pretty well but she has some bossy moments so we are unsure if she would prefer live as an "only" or would thrive with the right canine partner.
If you have interest in meeting Grizzle or any of our cuties , please fill out the adoption application.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
