Kimmie - in Maine!
Posted May 2023

Kimmie is not only beautiful on the outside with her gorgeous coloring, but she has the personality to go with it! She is a great petite medium size at about 45 lbs and she is muscular and active. Her vet estimated that she is 1-2 years old and she gets along with everyone. Her best friends in Maine so far are the  pre-teen kiddos, and she is fine with other dogs, ignores cats, and is a little extra interested in outdoor critters that run from her.

Kimmie can be a little anxious during storms, fireworks etc She uses a crate well but does not like being in a closed room alone in her crate. She doesn’t mind sleeping with her humans. Kimmie is housetrained, She likes dogs of all sizes and had fun with a grumpy  Chi-weenie in her southern foster home.  She knows several commands like “sit” and “out” and walks well on leash. She LOVES being outside, and indoors this little food-motivated girl will counter surf. She loves bison bones, This helped keep her busy while going through heartworm treatment, but she is good as gold now!

Someone will hit the jackpot with sweet Kimmie!

Her current foster mama says, “She was such a good girl at her vet appointment; she’s also gone out shopping with us once, took her to PetSmart. She was the best girl - very polite, respectful around both strange people and dogs, and wanted to say hi and make friends with everyone, but listened to our direction.

She completely ignores the cats, though she is a bit nervous around our bully cat who tries to crowd her space:  Kimmie doesn't like being alone and can be anxious, but is not destructive. She will whine and cry and pace if alone during the day.  At night she is ok, she usually sleeps on the couch and doesn't get upset when everyone goes to bed. Kimmie LOVES to be outside. She hops straight up and down when you grab the leash.  She likes walking, always wants to explore the woods, and I bet she would love hiking, but on leash - she would 100 percent take off after critters. She is strong for her size and will pull on the leash, but we are working on that now that she is settling in. She’s just the bestest girl!”

Please note: We do not have a physical location where the dogs are housed ;they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that, once approved, a family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
