Mirta - in Maine!
Posted April 2025

They simply don't come any cuter than this! Mirta is a 10 lb, 2 year old Chihuahua mix who was rescued by a good samaritan when seen running on a boulevard in Puerto Rico and so narrowly escaping being hit by many cars.
Mirta is absolutely adorable and we believe was born missing most of one of her front legs and the other front leg has a club foot deformity, you can see this in her pictures. You would think this would be tough to deal with but apparently not, as she is zooming around inside and outside in the fenced yard at her Maine foster home!
Mirta has been fostered with multiple other dogs of various sizes before coming to Maine and is now with a cat & dog although we also believe she is confident enough to also be an only dog. Another reason for saying this is she LOVES people and will quite literally be in your face, so if you think this girl is for you, be ready for kisses! Mirta is very comfortable snoozing in her crate and although may need a little time and patience with house-training seems to be making good progress and learning quickly, such a smart girl!
This sweetie is SOOOOO happy about life and even though she was thrown some curve balls it does not faze her one bit and we know whoever adopts will be a very lucky family indeed!

If you are interested in Mirta or any of our sweeties, please fill our Adoption Application here.
Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
